Virtual Rehearsing

What do you do when your duo partner moves away, so that a Monday night rehearsal becomes impossible face-to-face?

Well, Dave and I had that problem when he relocated back up north. We are sticking with SonoBus, an audio programme that, for the most part, has been great for practising together. We tend to stick to the programme default settings but connect via an Ethernet cable as it does give a more stable signal.

We tend to meet up on Monday afternoons, and this week we ran through our 40 min set for Haddstock at The Vic downstairs in Haddington at 12 40 on Saturday, 30th May and Westfest Dundee Sunday, 7th June, TBA This time we ironed out a few timing issues, to be honest, me coming in too soon on Dave's solos.

When we are face-to-face, we can rely on visuals much more, and, as Dave says, if he sees me reaching forward, he knows I am likely to come in with the next verse or chorus.  It's always hard to know what to drop out of the set and still give a good mix of our material.  We still have some of my favourites, Beyond the Tennessee Line and Dark Valley, as well as Dave's version of Girl from Oklahoma by Junior Brown.  Looking forward to some sunshine and community festivals
