REEL ALIENS REUNION FINZEANHALL

 My Musical Journey

I have been playing music most of my life, starting with the moothie and fiddle. In my teenage years, I took up the guitar and started playing covers. It wasn't until my early twenties, in Aberdeen, that I discovered ceilidh and folk music, took a deep dive into the world of late-night sessions and joined various ceilidh bands, first The Reel Aliens, followed by Mabel Meldrum's. Both bands played all over the north east of Scotland and beyond.

I also discovered singing and writing songs, which I explored with my brilliant band mates in The Fabulamas. We wrote and performed mainly original material highlighting some of the injustices we face as women.

In the early 90's, I moved to Edinburgh and took a break from music. In 2012, I bought a new guitar, dusted off my mandolin and my fiddle and began writing songs.

An amazing afternoon playing on The Lighthouse Stage North Berwick. Doesn't get much better than this! The sun was shining and the  fish and chips were  divine.

With the Mabel Meldrum's ceilidh band, I performed at the sports stadium to an audience of 2,000 students.  An adrenaline rush that was out of this world!

I reckon it's the best venue in town. The acoustics are awesome. No need for amps and mics. Set up and ready to go in 5 min.
